Magazines:

SCO World Magazine, as its name implies, is targeted directly at the SCO user though it is an independent publication not affiliated with SCO. You may contact them at:

SysAdmin is not just for the SCO user but it does target the Unix systems administrator. We have been charter subscribers and highly recommend it.

Sys Admin
Magazine Description Sys Admin provides practical technical information for UNIX systems administrators. It includes articles on system performance tuning, shell script, and crash recovery.
Dr. Dobb's Journal
Magazine Description Written by and for professional software developers, Dr. Dobb's Journal leads the computer press in covering practical technology. The magazine reports on all languages, platforms, and tools. Each monthly issue shares valuable tricks of the trade and presents code examples.

Books:

Your SCO documentation. Don't overlook the obvious. A complete online version comes with OpenServer Release 5. Just click on the "Help" icon on your X desktop. You may browse the different books or do a search on a topic for a list of references in the entire OSR5 library. Printed SCO Doc sets may be ordered directly from Stream International. Please see their web pages for ordering instructions and a list of available SCO doc sets.

"The SCO Performance Tuning Handbook" by Gina Miscovich and David Simons, Prentice-Hall, 1994. Written by two SCO engineers but specific to 3.2v4.2 and variants based on it (Open Desktop 3.0, Open Serrver Network 3.0 and Open Server Enterprise 3.0). This book contains chapters on tuning Open Desktop, MPX, network systems, Oracle server systems and Informix server systems and comes with s diskette containing useful performance tuning utilities.

"Essential System Administration" by AEleen Frisch, O'Reilly & Associates. Not specific to SCO but very useful and now in its second edition.

"System Performance Tuning" by Mike Loukides, O'Reilly & Associates, 1991. Not specific to SCO but very useful.

O'Reilly's Home Page. O'Reilly publishes many books covering just about any Unix-related topic you might want to know about.

Prentice-Hall prints many useful Unix books. Since Prentice Hall is (or was) the OEM publisher for several Unix Vendors inluding AT&T and SCO, you may find the same manuals here as came with your system. Of particular interest to SVR4.2 (i.e., UnixWare) users is the series put out by the Unix Systems Group, Unix Press including the System Administrator's Collection. We have found the following to be particularly helpful:
